Legal
Terms & Conditions
Last updated: September 2026
1. Who you are contracting with
CaseEthics (the "Service") is provided by CaseEthics ("we", "us"). By creating an account or continuing to use the Service, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation; otherwise you confirm you are of legal age to enter this agreement.
2. What the Service is
CaseEthics is an educational training tool for ethics case competitions and moral reasoning. It provides a dilemma library, ethical framework references, AI-assisted case analysis, Socratic sparring, argument mapping, rubric grading, and practice sessions.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us at support@caseethics.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Licence and restrictions
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service within the plan you have selected. You may not reverse engineer the Service, resell or redistribute access to it, or circumvent technical limits including usage quotas.
5. Acceptable use
You must not misuse the Service. In particular, you must not:
- use it for any unlawful purpose, or to facilitate fraud or spam;
- infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights;
- interfere with the security or integrity of the Service, including uploading malware, probing for vulnerabilities, or scraping it at scale;
- submit content that is hateful, harassing, sexually exploitative, or that encourages serious harm; or
- attempt to jailbreak, manipulate, or misuse the AI features to produce prohibited content.
6. AI-generated content
The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate analyses, counterarguments, grades, and summaries. You are responsible for the prompts and case material you submit, for having the rights to any content you input, and for how you use the outputs. AI outputs may be incomplete or inaccurate and are provided for educational and training purposes only. They are not legal, medical, financial, or professional advice, and should not be relied on without your own judgement and verification. We may filter, refuse, or remove content, and may restrict or suspend accounts that repeatedly generate prohibited material. If you believe content on the Service infringes your rights, contact support@caseethics.app and we will investigate and remove infringing material where appropriate; repeat infringers will lose access.
7. Intellectual property
We retain ownership of the Service and all intellectual property in it, including software, curated case material, framework references, and branding. You retain ownership of the content you submit, and grant us a limited licence to host and process it solely to provide the Service to you.
8. Payment, subscriptions and refunds
Every account includes a limited number of free AI interactions. Continued AI use requires a CaseEthics Pro subscription, billed monthly and renewing automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Our own refund period is set out in our Refund Policy (30 days).
9. Service level
We work to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. Features may change, and AI models and providers may be updated over time.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. You may close your account at any time from your account settings. When access ends, your saved dilemmas, binders, and analyses are deleted; export anything you want to keep beforehand.
11. Warranties and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where that exclusion is not permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your unlawful use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
12. General
You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control. These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which CaseEthics is established, and disputes will be heard by the courts of that jurisdiction. Questions: support@caseethics.app.
